Health and Education Apps to See Major Redesigns for Enhanced User Journeys.
In a significant move toward improving digital public services, the Indian government has announced comprehensive redesign plans for health and education apps, aiming to create more seamless, personalized, and inclusive user journeys. This overhaul is being spearheaded by the Ministries of Health & Family Welfare and Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), under the broader Digital India framework.
The redesigns focus on eliminating friction in user navigation, streamlining access to services, and integrating smarter engagement tools. For health apps such as Aarogya Setu, ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), and eSanjeevani, the enhancements will include simplified appointment scheduling, clearer access to health records, real-time teleconsultation support, and multilingual chatbot integration. Additionally, new features like AI-powered symptom checkers and personalized wellness dashboards are under development to increase proactive health monitoring and reduce dependency on in-person visits.
In the education sector, platforms like DIKSHA and SWAYAM are being reimagined with student-centric design principles. The updates aim to make content discovery more intuitive through adaptive learning paths, gamified progress indicators, and AI-driven recommendations tailored to individual learning styles and performance history. Seamless integration of assessments, certifications, and digital credentials will also be prioritized to enhance the utility of these apps in formal education and job readiness.
To ensure equitable access, the redesigned apps will support offline functionality, regional languages, voice-based navigation, and compatibility with low-end devices. The user interfaces are being tested with diverse demographics—including students in rural schools and patients in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities—to ensure real-world usability.
These upgrades signal a transformative shift in how digital public services are delivered in India. By focusing on experience design, accessibility, and smart personalization, the government aims to significantly boost citizen satisfaction, digital adoption, and long-term behavioral engagement across health and education platforms.
